Special Information:
This conference takes place daily July 18-22, 2022

The University of Georgia hosts the International Plato Society's Symposium XIII on Plato's Sophist July 18-22, 2022 at the Terry College of Business.

Every three years, IPS hosts a symposium on a single Platonic dialogue, this marks the first time the event will be hosted in the United States. As current president of the organization, University of Georgia Department of Philosophy Distinguished Research Professor and Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor Edward Halper is the primary coordinator of Symposium XIII. Over 100 abstracts in the society's five official languages have been accepted for talks to be presented in an expanded hybrid event supplemented with additional parallel sessions including online talks. The four-day event culminates with a banquet in the Russell Special Collections Library.
