Philosophy major Nathan Haynes, who also serves as a student ambassador for the Philosophy Department, was recently featured in one of Franklin College’s stories highlighting graduating seniors. Nathan has been an outstanding student in our department for the past few years, with his teachers greatly appreciating his inquisitive spirit and writing skills. Nathan has already published an article, “Taking Pride Seriously: Race and Gender Identity in Social Constructivism Models,” in The Classic Journal and has presented an Aristotle paper in the annual CURO conference. Moreover, he has won the prestigious Frank Harrison III scholarship on the strength of his overall academic performance and the quality of his writing in the history of philosophy. As a philosophy ambassador, Nathan has contributed to the department by organizing events, meeting philosophy job candidates and promoting philosophy at UGA in various ways. The philosophy program is very lucky indeed to count Nathan among its majors—we wish him all the best with his post-graduation plans!
