Kong to Join Philosophy Faculty

Youjin Kong

The Department of Philosophy is excited to welcome Youjin Kong to our faculty. Dr. Kong will be joining the department as an Assistant Professor in August 2023. She achieved her PhD at Michigan State University and she specializes in social/political philosophy, feminist philosophy, and the ethics of artificial intelligence with a focus on social identity and gender and racial justice.

"I am really excited that Dr. Kong will be joining us in the fall, and I am confident that she is going to make a huge contribution to the department and university," says department head Aaron Meskin. "She brings expertise in a wide range of philosophical areas and is a creative and exciting teacher. I envy the students who will be taking her classes."

"I’m thrilled to join the philosophy faculty at UGA," says Dr. Kong, who will be teaching courses in ethics and feminist philosophy. "I am committed to promoting diversity in the profession and look forward to contributing to efforts that support underrepresented groups in philosophy. I can’t wait to meet my students and colleagues and to begin this exciting chapter in my academic career!"
